Makayla Gibson

Makayla is a student studying business here at Bridgerland. She grew up in Garland Utah and now lives in Logan with her husband. Traveling, hiking, riding bikes, and reading self-improvement books are all among the things that she loves to do. After high school, Makayla completed two semesters of school at Utah State, served an LDS mission, and completed two more semesters of school at the Southern Utah University. After all that, she made the decision to come to Bridgerland to get more work related skills.

Keri Reynolds

Student of the Month for May
Program: Dental Assisting


Keri is from the town of Preston, Idaho. She is currently living there and finds happiness in photography, hiking, fishing, hunting, and all kinds of sports. She has three brothers and a sister-in-law that are all very close to her. Before attending Bridgerland, Keri went to a private school named Glenn J. Kimber Academy. She was able to graduate from her private high school at the age of 15 and get a great head start in life by starting at Bridgerland as an adult student being only 16 years old.

Ellie Dalton

Student of the Month for April
Program: Culinary Arts


Ellie Dalton is from a small town in Idaho called Shoshone. Her and her family raise Red Angus cattle and sheep. Previous to attending Bridgerland, Ellie went to The College of Southern Idaho and Utah State University. When we asked her why she decided to attend BATC she said, “I decided to attend Culinary Arts at BATC over Christmas break two years ago. Cooking had always been a dream of mine.” Ellie is now working at her dreams through our Culinary Arts program.

Lori Portlock

Student of the Month for March
Program: Business Technology


Lori came to Bridgerland after the company she worked at for 16 years closed down. She learned that there was an opportunity to return to school and decided to enroll in the Business Technology program. “Although I was terrified, I was also excited to start a new adventure,” she commented.

Returning to school was an adjustment for Lori after being in the workforce. When asked about her biggest challenge, she said “I had to ‘learn how to learn’ and figure out what worked for me as a student. I was an independent study in high school, so this was different than anything I’ve experienced before.”

2016 Student of the Year - Ben Olsen

Ben Olsen, a certificate seeking student of our Automated Manufacturing & Robotics Program, was awarded the BATC Student of the Year for 2016. Ben Olsen comes to us from the United States Army where he proudly served as an Infantryman for a number of years. After a debilitating injury prevented him from continuing to serve, he decided to further his education through BATC. After trying a number of different industry fields, he finally found his true passion in the Automated Manufacturing and Robotics program. While there are many job options available to Ben, he hopes to one day use his knowledge to continue providing services for the military with his Robotics Training.

Hayden Nielson, a certificate seeking student of our Career and Technical Education Program, was awarded the BATC Student of the Year – Runner Up for 2016. Hayden came to BATC as a senior in High School, a little unsure of what direction he wanted to take his career. Hayden has always loved computers and dissected his first computer at the age of three!

Gretchen VanZanten

Gretchen VanZanten has spent her life taking care of others. Being the oldest of four children, she learned quickly how to be responsible at home while taking care of her siblings. Later, she learned the importance of good compassionate care when she comforted her mother after a miscarriage then as she cared for her diabetic grandmother. All of these circumstances collaborated into a burning desire to dedicate her life to quality care; she would become a nurse.

Jonathan Brunson

Jonathan Brunson sees cabinetmaking as an overlooked skill. “There’s so much you can do with it,” he declares. “You can literally build just about anything.” Jonathan is the father of three, who loves hunting, camping, hiking and building things. After spending some time in Phoenix, Arizona, where he studied motorcycle mechanics, Jonathan discovered that fixing bikes was not really what he wanted to spend his life doing. Jerry Rawson

After serving in the active Army for sixteen years, Jerry Rawson says that service comes naturally to him. During his military service, he flew Black Hawk helicopters out of Hunter Army Airfield in Georgia then out of Fort Drum in New York; he served in Afghanistan (2006) and again in Iraq (2009) before retiring from the service in California where he was supporting the National Training Center.

Lettie Larsen: Student Success

Throughout her life, Lettie Larsen has worked on a family farm where she has fixed engines, repaired broken pipes and changed the oil on the machinery. Cayle Herbaugh

While working as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Cayle Herbaugh decided she wanted a steady job in a career that she would enjoy; one that would allow her to focus more on medical and health care. In November 2015 Cayle enrolled in the Medical Assisting Program at Bridgerland Applied Technology College.“I went to school originally because I am a single mom and I wanted to make sure I had more to offer my daughter than a [basic entry-level] job,” Cayle says with a smile. “I wanted to work hard and go to school and make a better life for myself and for her.” And she’s doing just that. “In the time that Bransen has been here in the Auto Collision Program, he has shown me many great qualities. Emilee Roberts

When fashion student, Emilee Roberts, was given the opportunity to work for successful designer out of Connecticut, she immediately knew it was a chance of a lifetime.

In 2015, Rhone Apparel, a strong yet classic men's activewear line, hired Emilee to run their bookkeeping and finances. Since then, she has been processing their accounts receivable, tracking their inventory and reconciling bank accounts for the company as they distribute their lines to Bloomingdales and Nordstroms among other stores across the nation. Plus, she does it all from the comfort of her own home.

Success Story: Jaqson Belnap

Jaqson Belnap is literally living proof of Bridgerland ATC's theme, "Career in a Year". He enrolled in the Automated Manufacturing & Robotics course on January 5, 2015 and was hired by Set Point Engineering Systems in Ogden, one of the world's premier providers of custom automation on January 4, 2016.

Kailey Munk

“As I have had the opportunity to work with Kailey, it has been easy to observe that she possesses the skill, drive, and personality to be successful in the world of business. Tracy Allen, Automated Manufacturing & Robotics Student, was awarded the BATC Student of the Year for 2015. President Chad Campbell, along with the BATC Board Members congratulated Tracy on a job well done and presented her with a $1,000 check. Tracy was also a student speaker at the BATC Graduation Ceremony in December. We are proud of Tracy and her accomplishments.

Albert Harris

"Albert is the number one student in our class academically, and also serves as our Class Officer.  Albert makes sure all of the students are in attendance and ready to go for class. Cintiha Gutierrez: Student Success

Shout out to Cintiha Gutierrez, who was recently hired by the IHC South Clinic.  Cintiha earned her Business Administrative Support Certificate the end of September and began working at the clinic the following Monday. As her BATC advisor, Kyle Saunders wrote,  "Cintiha has proven what a valuable asset she will be to any business that hres her."  We're so happy for Cintiha and for her example of hard work and dedication!
