Automated Manufacturing & Robotics - Robotics

Robots are widely used in our local manufacturing industry to perform repetitive tasks especially in environments hazardous to humans. Locally, the use of robots is rapidly increasing and this implementation is replacing low-skilled workers; however, new jobs are being created for technicians who are highly trained to maintain and program the robots.

Students will learn the skills and knowledge needed to find employment as a robot technician. Students will learn the anatomy of an industrial robot and will come to understand the manufacturing process to find best solutions to technical issues and needs.

Employment Outlook

Robot technicians build, maintain, and repair robots in automated manufacturing plants as well as other settings. They are essential in providing expert service throughout the life of the robot, prolonging its use and supporting increased efficiency. It is expected that work for line operators will decrease due to robot implementation and the need for certified robot technicians will increase to provide support for these highly mechanical tools.
