Student of the Year



BATC invites you to apply for the title of BATC Student of the Year! The winner will receive $1,000 cash and is then eligible for the title of UCAT Student of the Year. This winner will receive a free two-year lease for a new car (or option for cash prize).

Applications are due by October 31, 2016, to Student Services. If chosen, the BATC Student of the Year must attend and speak at events listed on application and rules.

Application Process

  

Timeline*
  • Students may apply no later than October 31, 2016.
   October 1 – October 31
Applications may be submitted by students and eligible graduates
  • Students must have been in their program for at least three months before they apply.
   November 1-7
Screening Process
  • Students must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
   November 8-11
Selection Process by Committee to select Bridgerland Applied Technology College winner
  • Students who have been a BATC Student of the Month, been inducted into the National Technical Honor Society or medal winners at regional, state or national SkillsUSA as well as any other students interested are encouraged to apply.
   November 14
BATC Student of the Year will be announced.
  • Students must fill out an official application form. Applications may be printed out at home or in the BATC Student Services Department.
   November 15– January 31
Prep Bridgerland ATC winner for final competition
  • Write a two page essay on “Why I chose career and technical education and how I will use it to better my life.”
   January 2017
Address the BATC Board of Directors at the first board meeting of the year.
  • Students must be in good academic and financial standing with the college.
   February 1, 2017 (tentative)
State competition and selection of UCAT Student of the Year
  • Applicants must sign an agreement that will outline their duties as the Bridgerland Applied Technology College and UCAT Student of the Year, if selected.
   February 2, 2017
Gala at Little America to announce winner
  • Applicants should be prepared for a short interview by the campus selection committee focused on why they should be the BATC/UCAT student of the Year and the state ambassador of technical education.
   June 2017
Speak at the Spring Graduation for BATC.
*Please be sure these dates coincide with your availability as a Student of the Year applicant.
