The survey of U.S. manufacturing employers found that 80 percent of respondents said they had a serious problem finding qualified candidates for the highly technical world of modern manufacturing. According to the Department of Workforce Services, machining has been selected as one of Utah’s five-star occupations. Business growth, as well as retiring workers, will provide the majority of new job openings. Workers with a range of skills who can perform multiple tasks in a machine shop will have the best job opportunities.
