Business Technology - Real Estate Pre-Licensing

The Real Estate Pre-Licensing course is a state-approved course designed to prepare you for the Utah Sales Agent exam. This course is the first step to launch a new career that will allow you the freedom of self-employment, with financial rewards geared to your personal goals, motivation, and determination.

Licensing
The following are requirements for obtaining a Sales Agent License:
  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Complete a 120-hour pre-licensing course and pass school exam.
  • Obtain the Utah State handbook stamped by BATC signifying successful completion of course.
  • Score 70 percent or higher on the State of Utah and National exams.

The Bridgerland Applied Technology College Real Estate Program and its instructors are licensed by the Utah Division of Real Estate.

High School Students: Arranged - varies by school

Adult Students: Monday and Wednesday, 6 pm to 10 pm

Special Requirements:

The applicant for a sales agent license must be at least 18 years old and show proof of high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Students must purchase books.

All students applying for a sales agent license will be required to submit to the Division, with their applications, fingerprint cards that will be used in a criminal background check. Any student with a criminal history may: 1) not qualify for a sales agent license, or 2) may be required to appear at a hearing before the Utah Real Estate Commission and the Director of the Division of Real Estate to seek approval for a license. There is no guarantee that such an applicant will be approved for a sales agent license.

Real estate is a growing business and continues to define a huge segment of the American economy. Real estate brokers are always looking for honest, dedicated, self-motivated, enthusiastic agents. Compensation is based on a commission schedule for each sale, which is determined by each individual real estate office. Specializations in the industry include: property management, appraisal, financing, subdivision and development, counseling, and education.
