Description

Achieve success in the high technology automotive industry by learning in a hands-on, practical environment. Skilled and experienced instructors provide real world training in electrical/electronics systems, engine performance/repair, steering/suspension, brakes, drive train/axles, transmissions, heating/ventilation/air conditioning, light duty diesel, and more. Successful technicians are highly motivated and excel in mechanical and electrical aptitude, manual dexterity, reading comprehension, and are in good physical condition.

Must be 16 years of age, but 18 years of age prior to job placement.
Enrollment is limited by facilities and equipment.

Outcome statistics are compiled annually based upon Training Outcome surveys conducted with students post-graduation. Data is gathered through coordination with the student, faculty, Student Services Office personnel, and licensing agencies.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more entry-level service technicians will be needed to do basic maintenance and repair as the number of vehicles continues to grow. The increasing life-span of late-model cars and light trucks will further increase the demand. Because of the complexity of modern vehicles, motorists will need a skilled technician to make repairs and adjustments rather than doing it themselves. This field is very rewarding – great satisfaction comes from solving the problems and restoring the vehicle to proper operating condition.
