Congratulations Graduates!

Graduation was held Thursday, December 11, with over 200 students being recognized. Mindi Ward from the Practical Nursing Program shared the story of her journey to Bridgerland and what she gained along the way. Mindi was also selected to represent BATC as the Student of the Year! Robotics Team Moving Forward

Kudos to Nathan Merrill, team captain for BATC’s Skunkworks Robotics Team. Nathan not only took the initiative to go after, but was awarded a $2,300 grant, which will allow two robot teams to participate in either the national or world competitions in March 2015. We look for great things from these bright, industrious, creative leaders of tomorrow. Great job!

The Winner is...

Mindi Ward, Practical Nursing student, was awarded the BATC Student of the Year for 2014 on December 4. UCAT President Robert Brems and BATC Campus President Dr. Richard Maughan congratulated Mindi on a job well done and presented her with a $1,000 check donated by Zion's Bank. We are so proud of Mindi and her accomplishments and can't wait to hear her speak at the upcoming graduation.

Warming the Hearts of Others

A very special thanks to all those who participated in the BATC Business Coat Drive this year! The outpour of support was greatly appreciated and we hope your generosity sparked the beginning of a wonderful holiday season full of giving! Chantel Guinn and Mindy Anderson, Business students at the Brigham City Campus, collected over 820 articles of warm clothing during their two-week humanitarian project:
204 Adult Coats
316 Kids Coats
300+ Warm Clothing articles (Hats, Gloves, Sweatshirts, etc.)

Police Academy Graduation

On Friday, November 21, there were 24 cadets who graduated from the Police Academy Program with several hundred attendees, which included police administrators, deputies, and officers from Box Elder, Cache, and Weber counties. We enjoyed the guest speaker, Sidney Groll, Director of Law Enforcement for the Department of Natural Resources, and presentation by the graduates. Eight instructors were recognized for going above and beyond in their teaching capacity.

Fabulous Fashion Show - It's a Wrap

The BATC Fashion Merchandising Department just finished their annual Fall Fashion Show.  With record breaking attendance for show history at BATC, and an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from the community, models, and students, the show was a complete success!  The theme for the show was, “Legends of the Fall”.  The students enrolled in the Fashion Merchandising classes were responsible for coordinating the clothing, choreography, music, advertising, and all other elements of the show, which featured clothing from retailers in the Cache Valley Mall, DownEast, and Old Navy.

Make Kids Smile

During the month of November, the Business Technology Department is excited to be collecting donations of new stuffed animals. The collections will be donated to the North Logan Fire Department. The firemen will give the stuffed animals to children who are victims of domestic violence or whose lives have been changed due to emergency situations. Please donate a new stuffed animal in one of the red boxes distributed throughout the Main Campus, West Campus, or Brigham City Campus by November 21.

Bragging Rights for Medical Assisting

We just received the results for the CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) exam - that all of our Medical Assisting students take each year. We are excited to announce that we have a 100% pass rate (compared to the national pass rate of 67%)!!

Saving Lives in Our Spare Time

Peter Nielson (pictured right) had just finished teaching an EMT class at BATC's West Campus, when he came upon an accident involving Dallin Wengert, ninety seconds after it occurred. He was able to save Dallin's life by implementing procedures before the EMTs arrived on scene.
