We are lucky to have Fashion Merchandising student, Sherece Bledsoe, share with us wardrobe tips for travel...simple guidelines, you’ll be sure to look great on your vacation.

When creating a travel wardrobe, you need to start with the basics. Answer these questions: where are you going, and for how long? What will the weather be like? What is your daily itinerary? Once you have these things figured out, choose a single color scheme for your clothing. By doing that, you can create several different outfits because the pieces are interchangeable. You can rely on accessories to give you the pops of color you need to dress up a look or to take it from day to night. Next, pick your pieces. For a weeklong vacation, select 8-10 pieces that can all create different looks.  This prevents your suitcase from becoming a pile of unfolded and unworn clothing, and leaves room for souvenirs. Choose two pairs of shoes, preferably a pair that can be dressed up and a pair that you can get dirty. Bring a handful of accessories that will coordinate with your pieces, and one or two bags that fit with your color scheme and can hold several items if need be.

I’ve created a male & female wardrobe for a 5-day vacation somewhere warm. This wardrobe consists of, simple pieces for each person that are interchangeable with several other pieces. I stuck to a neutral color scheme with different shades of blue. The colors create a calm, pleasant look that is polished and put-together.

If you follow these simple guidelines, you’ll be sure to look great on your vacation!
