Matt Fuller, BATC Robotics Instructor and Tournament Coordinator says, “Students who participate in the VEX Robotics competition dedicate a great deal of time building, programming, and testing the function of their robots to compete at the highest levels. They learn so many valuable skills that can translate to greater opportunities in Robotics. Within Cache Valley alone, robots and additional automation are being added quickly to manufacturing facilities in the Bear River Region. Right here in Cache Valley, we have some of the best robot teams in the world who compete at the highest world championship levels.”
The Utah Manufacturers Association and companies like Autoliv in Brigham City and Tremonton, Schreiber Foods, Pepperidge Farm, Gossner Foods, Post Foods, and many others have all expressed support for this program and look forward to seeing more students working toward employment at their facilities.
The Robotics competition includes VEX IQ Challenge Elementary School State Championship (ages 8-10), VEX IQ Challenge Middle School State Championship (ages 11-14), VEX Robotics Competition Middle School World Championship (ages 11-14), and the VEX Robotics Competition High School State Championship (ages 15-18). There will be several different awards given to the students for overall technical expertise.
Thank you to the sponsors of BATC’s 2017 VEX Robotics Competition: Fanuc Robotics, Autoliv, Setpoint, Nucor Steel, Schreiber Foods, Fiero Fluid Power, and Campbell Scientific.
