Jaqson Belnap from the Automated Manufaturing & Robotics Program represented the graduates as the student speaker, sharing his journey and thoughts about his time at Bridgerland. You will find his story at this link: http://batc.edu/blog/2016/02/success-story-jaqson-belnap
Special guest speaker for the evening, Dr. Dave R. Woolstenhulme, shared his vision of the many educational opportunities available through the Pathways Stackable Programs. Executive Vice Provost at Utah State University, he also serves Bridgerland as a member of the Board of Directors and has been instrumental in creating the Stackable Programs between Bridgerland and USU. His vision of allowing students to take their 900-hour certificates and receive credit towards an associates degree has potential to benefit many BATC graduates.
Dr. Woolstenhulme shared with the graduates an equation from Urban Myers' book, "Above The Line". The equation: E+R=O. The translation: an Event + a person's Response = the Outcome. He encouraged graduates to improve the way they respond to life's situations and left them with a final challenge: "Gain skills, build skills, get better, and be prepared to be uncomfortable. If events don't challenge you, the events won't change you. Step up! Go out and make a difference!"
