Students ages 14-18 arrived at the West Campus multipurpose room bright and early for Friday's 8 a.m. check-in; each team eagerly clutching the robots they had spent several previous months constructing. Tools and wires and power equipment lined the tables where students repaired and adjusted their creations; families and fellow students stood by to watch as they competed for the coveted top spots in this VEX event. The goal? Each pre-programmed robot was required to skillfully maneuver throughout the arena. Each move was engineered with scientific precision and exactness as they were awarded points based on how many rubber balls they shot into the designated nets. Additional points were also given for many other conceptually engineered action the vehicles made.
At the end of the eight-hour event, these top three teams took home cash awards from the following sponsors: Bridgerland Applied Technology College, Autoliv, Set Point, Shreiber Foods, Fierro Fluid Power and Nucor Steel. Thank you to all the sponsors for making this event happen and congratulations to all our winners!
