Did you know? BATC has around 250 Employer Advisory Committee members who provide support to our programs by actively reviewing curriculum, attending/coordinating events, and most importantly, hiring our students!
We would like you to meet one of our outstanding members, Robert Ashby, who has gone above and beyond for BATC.Mr. Ashby has served on the BATC Electronic Engineering Technology Advisory Committee for the past six years. His enthusiasm for education and student success is contagious and evident in his involvement outside of the regular scheduled meetings. Program director, Ed Ball, says, “We are fortunate to have Robert Ashby serving as an advisory member. His visionary presence infuses excitement, passion, and knowledge into the program.”
On behalf of Autonomous Solutions, Mr. Ashby has volunteered his services for a number of years at Career Days. Most recently, he created activities to stimulate interest in electronics and automation. First, a tin foil foot pedal was used to control a popular game, Flappy Bird. Second, a bucket was lifted using the electric transfer of energy. These activities engage students and inspire them to pursue careers they never before thought possible.
“The Applied Technology Colleges offer the affordability, flexibility, and adaptability to provide state-of-the-art education to all of Utah’s students, c
reating a skilled workforce." –Robert Ashby
