Looking for employment working with young children in the social services field? Are you interested in learning more about strengthening high-risk families and in helping young children begin to heal from abuse, neglect, and trauma? House of Hope utilizes the trauma informed psycho-educational approach with small groups of young children who are residing with their mothers in residential treatment. Group assistants help provide therapeutic groups for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-aged children in our children’s day treatment program. 401(k) plan with dollar for dollar match, up to 5%, is available after one year. This position is 24 to 28 hours per week, Monday through Friday in the mornings from 8:30 to 1:30 or in the afternoons from 12 to 4:30 (or 5 p.m. on some Mondays). This position is an especially good fit for those with a passion for working with young children and their families; a desire to grow personally and professionally in the social work, mental health or child development field; a skills set of creativity, patience, energy and ability to help children learn skills in an engaging, nurturing manner; the willingness to be flexible, try new things, be open to feedback and handle stress calmly; is assertive, respectful communication skills with children, parents and co-workers; and has the ability to work as a team to create a safe, nurturing, consistent environment for young children. We are looking for someone with experience working with young children (6 months to eight years old); education or training in Early Childhood, Social Work, or Human Development preferred; good basic computer and writing skills; an understanding of professional ethics and boundaries in the human service field; and above average problem solving skills, conflict resolution abilities and above all, a sense of humor! Must be at least twenty-one years old and able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check and drug screen. If in recovery, must have at least three years of clean time.
